P is for…Pica

I was going to do P is for PECs but I have written about PECs lots of times and you can read those posts here

Pica is described as ‘the persistent eating of substances such as dirt or paint that have no nutritional value’  and is can be common amongst some people with autism, the desire to chew and pick at little things that aren’t food can be overwhelming and can lead to them eating some very strange things.

This can cause problems because some of the things that end up in their mouths could be poisonous, things such as paint with lead in it or fluff and dust can cause health problems.
